Spring has finally sprung here in Connecticut. The change of seasons may bring with it feelings that leave us feeling unsettled. As the days get longer and the sun comes out it can be challenging for people who are grieving to see those around them feel better, more energized, and active. Each new season brings new memories of the person who died. Entering a season that usually brought special activities with the person who died and realizing that person is gone and you can’t do those things can bring intense emotions. I always wondered why for the first few years the blue skies made me sad. It was a beautiful day and yet, here I was, just wishing for the sound of my son. The spring is full of life and yet inside I felt emotionless. Understanding that these feelings are normal and that we will learn how to cope and navigate them is an important step to our grieving. Remember, that you never have to walk this journey alone, we are here for you, to sit with you, to listen and to let you feel.
